Wholesale price inflation up

Wholesale price inflation posted an unexpected rise in the June quarter, driven by higher fuel costs, finance charges and construction, Statistics New Zealand said.

Prices of goods leaving the farm and factory gate were up 0.5 per cent for the three months to June, leading to an annual rise of 2.3 per cent. The inputs index rose 0.1 per cent in the period, for an annual rise of 1.5 per cent.
