Air New Zealand will start a code share relationship with Korean airline Asiana Airlines next week.
From June 15 Air NZ will code share on Asiana's services between Seoul and Auckland, while Asiana will code share on selected trans-Tasman and New Zealand domestic services operated by Air NZ.
Air NZ's group general
manager for marketing, network and sales, Norm Thompson, said Air NZ's main focus was to offer more inbound services for travellers from Korea.
"Having seats available with Asiana Airlines offers an alternative route to and from New Zealand and places the Air New Zealand code back in the Korean market," he said.
He said the arrangement will also provide Air NZ customers with direct access to Seoul for the first time since the mid 1990s when the airline stopped flying there.
Asiana Airlines has flown four times a week between Seoul and Auckland since October 2003 and joined the Star Alliance in March 2003.
