A family is in shock after Waikato wife and mother Michelle Robertson died while on holiday in the Cook Islands with her husband and friends.
Robertson, 37, died in Rarotonga on Saturday, August 5. No information has been made available about the cause of death.
She was married to Bruce Robertson, and they had one child together, Levi.
Robertson was also a stepmother to Nicole Robertson and Karla Welsh.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed her death, but couldn't provide further information for privacy reasons.
There's been an outpouring of grief over her death on social media, and on her obituary page.
Her husband's rugby team, the Hautapu Hopefools from Cambridge, organised a guard of honour for her funeral earlier today.
"Our hearts and love go out to Rubber and Levi, Ross and Annette, family and friends," Mike Cochrane wrote on the group's Facebook page.
"We will keep you all up to date when we know more."
The news was greeted with disbelief from many, with some questioning how it could have happened.
"So tragic for someone so young," Wilbert Melis said.
"My condolences to the family."
Some struggled to believe the tragedy was real.
"Thank you for the memories, thank you for being my friend and even though we haven't seen each other for years the pain is still very real," Jessica Summers wrote
"My thoughts are with your family Michelle, much love to them all."
