Man arrested: House fire in Dunedin being treated as suspicious

Police say they have arrested a 55-year-old Dunedin man and charged him with arson after a house fire in the suburb of Concord last night.

The man is in custody and will appear in the Dunedin District Court tomorrow, they say

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the matter.

A scene examination by police and fire investigation staff is being carried out today, police say.

Earlier, the fire service said it was treating the fire as suspicious.

Fire crews were called to a Mulford St address shortly before 8pm.

Fire service shift manager Andrew Norris said when they got to the house no one was inside, but occupants had been inside earlier.
