The newborn royal baby, Prince George of Cambridge, "cried his eyes out" when he met his uncle Prince Harry for the first time.
Prince George, who is third in line to the throne, burst into tears during his first meeting with Prince William's younger brother at Kensington Palace this week.
Prince Harry told reporters at the opening of The Sentebale: Stories of Hope exhibition on Thursday (local time) that the baby boy was "crying his eyes out, like all babies" when Kate Middleton introduced them.
Price Harry, 28, who vowed to protect his nephew but will make sure he has "fun" growing up, also confirmed he has already enjoyed his first "cuddle" with the infant.
"It's fantastic to have an addition to the family. I only hope my brother knows how expensive my babysitting charges are!," website People.com reported.
The new parents, both 31, and their little prince later left for Kate's parents' house in rural Berkshire, outside London, seeking a respite from the global media frenzy that has swirled around them for days.
"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis. The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge," Kensington Palace said in a statement.
