Toddler dies after getting head stuck in car window

A Lafayette, Indiana toddler has tragically died after he crushed his neck when accidentally winding up the car window.

Logan Vanderkleed and a sibling were sleeping in the car with the air conditioner on while their father Drew cleaned out a vehicle nearby.

But Logan then accidentally rolled up the car window with an automatic button, getting his head stuck.

When the child was found, he wasn't breathing and had been without a pulse for some time.

According to his mother Lisa, first responders administered CPR on the scene.

The toddler was airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis where he was put on life support.

There was hope for the family when after two days Logan responded to being moved and his feet being rubbed.

On Wednesday evening Logan had surgery to preserve his heart valves. Doctors also intended to transplant his kidneys to someone in need in Texas, but were unable to.

Logan was breathing on his own after the operation, but his condition didn't improve.

Just hours later, among 20 family members and friends praying for him to fight on, Logan died.

His mother shared a photo of imprints she made of his hands and feet on Facebook in one of her final updates.

So sweet, and of course hard to see but I will forever cherish...

She thanked followers for joining their family on this journey, revealing that he had died.

Logan's mother pleaded with followers to share only positive comments writing, "There is enough sadness and anger in the world."
