A man with a suspended licence has been caught driving an unregistered ute crammed with 12 passengers in Melbourne's northeast.
The 34-year-old man from Monbulk had his Holden ute impounded after police saw him driving erratically along Brunswick Street in Fitzroy before 2am (AEDT) on Sunday.
They pulled him over and discovered nine people crammed in the back of the ute, along with a front seat passenger.
Police believe two other people jumped out of the ute and ran away.
The driver, who is currently suspended, told police they had overreacted because no one was hurt.
