Criminals in Port Moresby have set fire to the offices of Papua New Guinea's only pidgin-language newspaper, the Wantok.
Taking advantage of an almost city-wide blackout due to thunderstorms, the gang forced open the door to the office, took out a computer and then set fire to the premises.
Last year church-owned Word Publishing, stopped publishing its English-language weekly, the Independent, so the surviving Wantok newspaper remains an important information source in a market dominated by two English language tabloid dailies.
