Nurse faces 28 counts of murder and manslaughter

BERLIN - A 27-year-old nurse nicknamed the "Angel of Death" faced court on 28 charges of murder and manslaughter.

Stephen Letter is accused of murdering 16 elderly patients in his care at a clinic in Sonthofen in Bavaria and causing the deaths of 13 others by injecting them with drugs. Prosecutors dismissed Letter's claims that he tried to "liberate" his patients from pain on the grounds that several had been recovering.
