The British House of Lords has ruled that the Government is entitled to detain refugees in immigration centres while it considers their applications for asylum.
The ruling by Britain's highest court of appeal is the final victory for Home Secretary David Blunkett in the long-running legal challenge brought by four Iraqi Kurds. Last year, the High Court ruled that the detention was unlawful and breached their human rights.
