Queensland Police unable to move bodies of deceased Rockhampton couple

Police from across Queensland have descended on Rockhampton to figure out how a couple were brutally left for dead in the bedroom of their suburban home on Monday night.

Investigations are continuing into the man and woman's deaths almost two days after police rushed to the Frenchville home following a frantic triple-0 call made just after 9.30pm.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed forensic experts were still scouring the Frenchville Rd property this morning as homicide detectives travel from Brisbane to join the investigation, news.com.au reports.

Police cordoned off the home late on Monday night after the horrific discovery which Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Peachey described as "significant".

"Forensics have been working throughout the night and we still haven't been able to remove bodies from that scene, so obviously it's quite a significant investigation we're conducting at the moment," Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Peachey told reporters last night.

A QPS spokesman later told news.com.au it "wasn't a very nice discovery" for emergency services.

Since Mr Peachey's comments, an undertaker has been called to the home to remove the bodies.

Police were unable to confirm the relationship of the two found and said they were working to notify the family.

"No positive identification has been made," he said.

"We have our suspicions but until we are able to do a positive identification, to be fair to the family, we will not be releasing anymore information."

Detectives are also in the process of gathering information from neighbours and witnesses in the usually quiet suburban street.

"At this stage we've only briefly spoken to the neighbours … I don't want to speculate on what they've heard or what they may have heard so far," Mr Peachey said.

The two deaths are being treated as suspicious however police said they were yet to bring anyone into custody.

Police have not revealed the cause of death and would not say if firearms had been involved.
