Mobile-phone use outnumbers fixed phones in China

Chinese people are breaking free of wires. By the end of last month, the number of mobile phone users in China had reached 259.6 million, the official Xinhua News Agency said. For the first time, this figure exceeds the number of fixed-line users in the world's most populous nation. Xinhua said just over 255 million Chinese were using fixed-line phones at the end of October.
