Pop superstar Madonna has credited the Kabbalah - the ancient tradition of Jewish mysticism - for the "creative inspiration" behind her best-selling album Ray of Light. And now she is repaying the debt.
The pop diva and her husband, film director Guy Ritchie, are said to have donated some of the £3.65 million ($10.3 million) needed for a new building for the Kabbalah Centre in central London.
Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall and Naomi Campbell also follow the mystical tradition, although the London centre is said to teach a simplified version - dubbed by critics "Kabbalah-lite" - offering instant "spiritual wisdom".
