Jury picked for child death trial of rock star

Lee Jury selection has begun for the trial of rock musician Tommy Lee who is being sued for the wrongful death of a four-year-old who drowned during a children's birthday party at his home.

German actress Ursula Karven and husband James Veres accuse Lee of negligence in the death of their son in July 2001. They are reportedly seeking US$1 million ($1.8 million) in damages as well as reimbursement for medical care, funeral expenses and additional damages to make up for their suffering.

Daniel Karven-Veres was found at the bottom of Lee's pool in Los Angeles' plush Malibu neighbourhood during a party for Brandon Lee, one of his two sons with ex-wife Pamela Anderson. The suit alleges Lee failed to have the pool supervised and had not ensured a lifeguard was available.
