Aboriginal health posters depicting the female body are riddled with errors including lungs being labelled as the stomach.
The federal government produced the female human anatomy posters as part of its Live Longer campaign and sent to indigenous health services across the country.
Opposition indigenous health spokesman Andrew Laming says the embarrassing errors include the pancreas and the ovaries being mistaken for kidneys.
"The oesophagus runs into the lung," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The ureters look like they join to the small intestine instead of the kidneys and bladder is sitting on top of the uterus."
Dr Laming urged Indigenous Health Minister Warren Snowden to recall the posters.
"The lack of any attention to detail in these posters is an insult to the (indigenous people) who were the target audience for this material," he said.
A spokeswoman for Mr Snowden said his office was looking into the issue.
