At the same time as many fast-food chains cater to the health-conscious, Hardee's is introducing the biggest and thickest of its Thickburgers.
The St Louis-based chain, which operates in 32 American states and 11 other countries, rolled out its Monster Thickburger - two 150g slabs of Angus beef, four stripsof bacon, three slices of cheese and mayonnaise on a buttered sesame seed bun.
The sandwich alone sells for about US$5.50 ($7.90), or US$7 ($10) with fries and a soft drink.
Even a news release touted the Monster - at 1420 calories and 107g of fat - as "a monument to decadence".
