Greek police finally smash terror group

Greek authorities yesterday charged the first November 17 guerrilla suspects ever captured, and held a professor believed to be leader of the band that has killed 23 people including American and British diplomats.

In Greece's biggest blow against domestic terrorism and a relief for organisers of the 2004 Athens Olympics, police chief Fotis Nasiakos said the three men charged had confessed to 42 crimes going back to 1984. Nasiakos said a fourth man was being questioned as the possible mastermind of a decades-old radical leftist group sought since it killed the Athens CIA chief in 1975.
