End to Illinois executions

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn intends to abolish the death penalty in Illinois, two sponsors of the legislation say.

State Representative Karen Yarbrough and state Senator Kwame Raoul said Quinn's staff had invited them to a signing ceremony today in the governor's Springfield office.

"It's going to happen," Raoul said.
