Australian paedophile loses bid to appeal

A man dubbed Australia's worst paedophile has lost his bid to appeal against an indefinite sentence for molesting 62 girls over 30 years.

In a unanimous judgment, Queensland's Court of Appeal in Brisbane yesterday refused an application by Geoffrey Robert Dobbs to appeal against his two life sentences handed out last month.

The 48-year-old pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Supreme Court in July to 116 child sex offences, including unlawful carnal knowledge and recording indecent visual images.
