While the pictures were found to be taken when the plane was grounded, Indian air regulators said it still showed "poor safety decorum" and was an "unhealthy trend".
Other regulators around the world have banned the use of mobile devices in cockpits.
In June, two pilots were reportedly fired for posing for selfies with a model in the cockpit of a passenger jet.
The Independent reported that model Victoria Xipolitakis was allowed to remain in the cockpit for her entire flight from Buenos Aires to Rosario in central Argentina.

She later tweeted pictures of herself with the pilots and even claimed she had been allowed to help fly the plane.
However, the practise is not always frowned on. Swedish Ryanair pilot Maria Pettersson is known for her selfies taken from the cockpit.
The glamourous blonde became a pilot in 2011 and continues to share selfies from her journeys on Instagram.
