Kurahaupo Trophy for Achievement in Oral Maori: Billy Turu. Whakaahurangi Maori Women's Welfare League Trophy for Achievement in Maori Language: Rae West. Carmichael Cup for Senior Creative Writing: Rae West. John Needham Memorial Trophy for Intermediate Public Speaking: Rae West. Whakaahurangi Marae Trophy for Achievement in Maori Art & Craft: Lauren Price. Whaia te Iti Kahurangi for Outstanding Leadership by a Senior Maori Student: Ngawai Matthews. Stephanie Cox Memorial Cup - This trophy is presented by the Cox family in memory of Stephanie Cox who made an immense contribution to the learning of language at Stratford High School. Stephanie's love of language and commitment to her students is deeply appreciated by the school. The cup is awarded to a senior student, who has demonstrated the following attributes in their study of
French:
- a passion for and commitment to the learning of French - consistent effort - the ability to communicate well in French - an appreciation of cultural difference.The first recipient of this award is Carly Theron. The Roodbeen Trophy is awarded to the best all-round senior student who shows dedication and commitment to the general life of the school. This year's recipient has been a house leader, peer supporter and peer reading tutor. She was a Ball, Lounge and Peak Committee member. She was also involved in the drama production and in playing various sports against the staff. She has been captain of a school netball team for the past three years and represented SHS in volleyball. This year she was a crucial member of the student council. She is certainly dedicated and committed to our school and a worthy recipient of the award. The Roodbeen Trophy for 2006 goes to Stacey Lawrence.
