When Katherine Moore gets ready for cards, don't expect a game of snap.
The enterprising Eltham 12-year-old took up card-making a few months ago, after getting inspired by her aunty.
She's got a folder crammed with exapmples of her work, many featuring animals, which are a favourite of hers. There are 3D cards, stamped cards and ones with photos included.
As well as creating cards for friends and family, Katherine has been making them for sale, with several businesses in Eltham taking some to sell on her behalf. She did a special series featuring cows and gumboots for the Eltham Vet, and another with old tractors for Mike's Museum in Eltham.
Katherine is also learning all about book keeping and budgeting as she goes, using a notebook to record all the details of sales and purchases of materials.
She also has a bulging folder full of photos of cards she has made.
Katherine, who is in year 8 at Rawhitiroa School, gets her Mum, Sandy, to help with making the cards when she has a lot to do.
Her proud Dad, John, has converted an old radiogram cabinet into a mobile desk and storage area for her cardmiaking materials.
He's since had to add some more compartments on top as the collection grew.
