Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye is the latest Marvel character to get his own Disney series.
Variety report that Disney's soon-to-be-launched streaming service is developing a series based on the bow and arrow toting member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Renner signed on to star.
The show is understood to be an adventure series in which Clint Barton (Hawkeye) will pass the baton to Kate Bishop. Bishop is a Marvel Comics character who adopted the Hawkeye persona after Barton. She is also a member of the Young Avengers.
Variety approached both Disney and Marvel, and representatives for Renner, but all parties declined to comment.
Renner entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hawkeye in an uncredited cameo appearance in Thor, and reprised the role in Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War.
He will also reappear in Avengers: End Game, which arrives in cinemas on April 26.
Renner previously received Oscar nominations for his performances in The Hurt Locker, The Town, and is also known for his work in American Hustle, Arrival, and Wind River.
News of the Hawkeye series comes after Variety previously confirmed Disney are also developing shows for other MCU characters like Falcon and Winter Soldier, along with Loki, Vision, and Scarlet Witch. The series are tipped to be six to eight episodes and have larger budgets compared to other television projects.
