Yachting: Dalton calls for super-cat duel

Grant Dalton has challenged rival round-the-world skipper Steve Fossett to a super-cat duel across the Atlantic.

Dalton's boat, Club Med, is two days ahead of target to break the east-west transatlantic record, 1500 miles from the finish line off San Salvador.

But last night the Kiwi skipper was thinking of the trip back and threw down the gauntlet to American Fossett, owner of New Zealand-built PlayStation.

The catamaran held the 24-hour speed sailing record before Club Med broke it at the start of its voyage last weekend.

"I've invited him to race us back across the Atlantic," Dalton said.
