UNDER-21 WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL
(France)
New Zealand coach Greg Cooper has made seven changes, three of them positional, to his starting 15 for the semifinal against South Africa in France tomorrow (NZ time).
Captain Jamie Mackintosh moves from loosehead to tighthead prop in place of Michael Reid while Arden David-Perrot will play at loosehead and Lance Po-Ching replaces Hikawera Elliot at hooker.
Ryan Wilson comes in at lock for Michael Paterson, who moves to blindside flanker, while Onosa'i Tololima-Auva'a switches from the No 6 to the No 7 jersey in place of Serge Lilo.
The only change in the backline is at centre where Richard Kahui replaces Robbie Flynn.
The changes come after New Zealand lost 17-21 to Australia in their final pool match and Cooper said they reflected the type of game he wanted his side to play against South Africa.
"South Africa is traditionally strong in the forwards and that is a part of their game that we will have to match them in," Cooper said.
"We have reviewed our performance against Australia and identified the areas that we were exposed in and will be looking to improve on that against South Africa."
Australia play France in the other semifinal.
