US Open champion Bianca Andreescu has pulled out of the ASB Classic.
The 19-year-old shot to prominence with an incredible run to the final in Auckland at the start of the year, before going from strength to strength, winning the Indian Wells Open and Canadian Open, and capping off a stunning season by beating Serena Williams to claim an astonishing US Open title.
Andreescu had signed on to return to the tournament which kick-started her breakout season, but has pulled out of the event today, citing a knee injury.
"I'm super disappointed about it, but I spoke to my team and I really have to do what's best for my knee right now," the world number five told fans in a video message on Twitter.

"I had so many amazing memories there so hopefully I can create more in 2021."
The loss of the top seed is a massive blow to the ASB Classic tournament.
"We are disappointed not to welcome Bianca back and wish her all the best for a speedy recovery," organisers said in a statement.
With the loss of Andreescu, world number 10 Serena Williams now assumes the role of top seed at the tournament.
