Swimming: American sets new women's backsroke record

American Natalie Coughlin set another world swimming record in New York yesterday, in the women's 100m backstroke at the World Cup shortcourse meet.

Coughlin swam 57.08s to set her second world mark in successive days. She beat the previous best of 58.45s set by Mai Nakamura of Japan this year.

On Tuesday, she set a world record for the 200m backstroke in 2m 03.62s, shattering the old mark of 2m 06.09s held by China's Cihong He.
