Softball: China oust White Sox

The New Zealand women's softball team were eliminated from the World Series in Canada when they lost 2-4 to China yesterday.

The White Sox had their chances in the top six playoff match, as they out-hit the Chinese eight hits to three, but could not turn that dominance into runs.

New Zealand needed to win the match to advance to the top four and gain automatic qualification for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
