Soccer: Western Samoa rep able to play for Australia

World soccer's governing body Fifa has cleared Millwall midfielder Tim Cahill to play for Australia despite his representing Western Samoa at under-20 level.

Cahill, who plays his club football for English first division Millwall, was deemed ineligible to represent Australia under previous Fifa rules.

The Sydney-born Cahill, whose mother Sis is Samoan, will be eligible to play in Australia's friendly against South Africa in London on March 30.

The 24-year-old midfielder played two games for Western Samoa at under-20 level in 1994.
