Soccer: Gaddafi interested in London club, newspaper says

Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi may buy promoted English premier league soccer club Crystal Palace, the Guardian newspaper reports.

It said Gaddafi, who owns a 7.5 per cent stake in Italian club Juventus, has not made an offer yet but has shown interest in the small London club that surprisingly won the promotion playoffs in May.

But club chairman Simon Jordan said many Britons might object to the Libyan's involvement, given the two countries' long enmity.
