REDS 35 WARATAHS 23
SYDNEY - The Queensland Reds scored the upset of this year's Super 12 when they defeated arch rivals NSW Waratahs 35-23.
In an exciting game which saw referee Peter Marshall award a penalty try to the Waratahs, the Reds came back from a 9-8 halftime deficit to record
a sensational victory and secure a bonus point.
Although they remain at the bottom of the Super 12 table, the Reds, who were winless up until this game, will take strength from beating one of the top placed teams.
Besides the penalty try, the Waratahs points came from tries by replacement hooker Adam Freier and halfback Chris Whitaker; as well as one conversion and two penalties by fullback Matt Rogers.
The Reds tries were scored by man of the match Chris Latham, wing Wendell Sailor, replacement forward Rudi Vedelago and centre Steve Kefu. First five-eighth Elton Flatley was successful with three penalties and three conversions.
