There's finally some good news on the injury front for the Waikato rugby team.
In-form number eight Liam Messam has been cleared of a broken cheekbone and is ok to play against Wellington in Hamilton on Saturday.
However the Waikato medical team is still waiting to view scans on hooker Tom Willis' injured ankle.
Willis has had a horror run in the last few years with back and neck problems, now he has been struck down by another issue.
Waikato conditioning director Dr Nick Gill says they are hoping the latest setback is not too serious. Gill says it is not likely to take Tom Willis out of the game for too long, assuming scans return without showing too much damage.
Waikato could also have two returning players available this weekend, Stephen Donald and halfback Brendon Leonard.
