St Peters College have claimed the Auckland first XV rugby title in a thriller against Kings College at Eden Park.
St Peters claimed a 29-28 win, holding off a strong fight back to claim the title.
After scoring in the first 30 seconds of the match, St Peters got off to a dream start. They crossed the line again soon after and within minutes the side had jumped out to a 12-0 lead.
Kings College got on the board off the tee, but things went from bad to worse when St Peters crossed the stripe for a third time in the first half.
A late converted try and penalty goal gave Kings some hope as they closed the gap to 17-13 at half time.
Soon after the break, Kings found themselves in the lead after an early penalty was followed by their second try of the day.
However, back to back tries to St Peters gave them a 29-21 lead heading into the final stages of the game.
Kings got over the line once more, but the conversion saw them remain behind by a single point, which was how the scoreboard remained when the final whistle blew.
