Former New Zealand rugby boss David Moffett was yesterday named as the Welsh Rugby Union's first group chief executive, just over two weeks after resigning as head of Sport England.
Moffett, a naturalised Australian who was chief executive of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union in the 1990s, was appointed 11months ago to head the organisation responsible for the funding and infrastructure of sports in England.
He resigned on October 15, claiming British sport would never enjoy long-term success because of red tape and an unwillingness to change.
Moffett, 55, was also a former chief executive of the Australian National Rugby League.
