BRISBANE - He may have undergone wrist surgery but Brisbane Broncos skipper Darren Lockyer still hopes to play in the upcoming rugby league world club challenge.
Lockyer yesterday revealed a wrist injury suffered in August was found to be worse than first thought when he underwent surgery inBrisbane last night.
However, he said he would still play for Brisbane in their world club challenge clash against English champions, St Helens, at Bolton on February 23.
"Although it troubled me at times, the injury was more a nuisance than anything else," Lockyer said.
"As it turned out, when the surgeon went in last night he found the wrist was a little more damaged than first thought, so it was obviously the correct decision to have the operation."
Lockyer will wear a plastic cast for the next month before beginning rehabilitation.
