Rugby League: Seuseu banned for seven weeks

Prop Jerry SeuSeu has been banned from the New Zealand Warriors' next seven matches in the National Rugby League, while teammates Francis Meli and Sione Faumuina will also sit out lengthy suspensions.

Meli will be sidelined for five weeks and Faumuina for four.

The three today made early guilty pleas to charges arising from the Warriors' 20-14 defeat of Canberra in Auckland on Sunday.

SeuSeu's ban relates to three separate charges, the most serious being a reckless high tackle on opposition frontrower Luke Davico in the 14th minute. He got six weeks for that incident.

He also pleaded guilty to lifting his knee in the sixth minute and to a careless high tackle in the 35th minute.

Winger Meli and interchange forward Faumuina pleaded guilty to a dangerous throw after the pair lifted centre Joel Monaghan above the horizontal in the 15th minute.

Meli received a longer suspension because of carry over points from a previous offence.
