Rugby League: Ross staying at Penrith

Queensland prop Ben Ross has re-signed with NRL club Penrith for a further three years.

Chief executive Shane Richardson announced Ross' retention yesterday when the 24-year-old was in camp with the Queensland Origin team.

"Ben is an important member of our pack - an Origin forward - and we expect him to remain an Origin player for a long time," Richardson said.

Ross, who will start on the interchange bench for the Maroons in the opening State of Origin game on May 26, has been a Penrith fan since he was a child.

He broke into first grade with St George Illawarra before joining the Panthers last season.

"I would like to end my career here," Ross said.
