Rugby League: Kiwi prop charged over tackle

Kiwi prop Craig Smith's troubled season got worse yesterday when he was charged over a tackle in a National Rugby League match on Sunday.

Smith, who starred for St George Illawarra in his first appearance back from suspension, faces his third stint on the sidelines this year after an alleged careless high tackle on Sydney Roosters centre Matt Sing.

The Dragons skipper will be out for five weeks even if he enters an early guilty plea by noon today. He will be out for six weeks if he fights the charge and is found guilty.
