SYDNEY - Injured Kangaroos rugby league captain Andrew Johns has been involved in a nightclub incident that is being investigated by Newcastle police, Australian media reported today.
Johns, regarded as the world's best rugby league player, was allegedly involved in a scuffle inside a Newcastle pub with another patron last week.
TheDaily Telegraph newspaper reported the patron had laid a complaint with police. Johns has been interviewed but no charges have yet been laid.
A mediation meeting was held yesterday between the complainant, his father, Johns and the halfback's legal representative.
Johns, who is recovering from a neck injury which ruled him out of the latter stages of last season, has made the headlines in the past for his off-field behaviour.
Last year he had a well-publicised argument with Knights teammate Ben Kennedy at a Newcastle Hotel in front of bemused fans. The pair resolved their differences the next day.
