Rugby: Henry helps Argentina

Graham Henry will help one of the All Blacks' rivals after he accepted a role to mentor Argentina's top coaches.

The World Cup-winning coach has taken on a number of mentoring roles since stepping aside from the All Blacks and this year agreed to act as a mentor to New Zealand's high performance coaches at Super Rugby and ITM Cup level.

He will work part-time mentoring Argentina's high performance coaches and has the blessing of the New Zealand Rugby Union.

"Sir Graham takes up his new role with the NZRU's blessing and it's a real positive not only for him but for Argentinian rugby as well," NZRU high performance manager Don Tricker said. "He will be mentoring their age-grade and national coaches."

Henry, who coached the All Blacks to 88 wins in 103 tests for a winning percentage of 85.4 per cent, said he was looking forward to the "exciting but also extremely challenging" opportunity when he starts next month on a one-year contract.

His role will be to give coaches an insight into what is required to create a national programme that will lead to a more competitive international team.
