Rugby: France to ref: Please explain

France have sent a videotape of highlights of their Six Nations game against England to New Zealand rugby referee Paul Honiss and have asked him to explain some of his rulings, says coach Bernard Laporte.

"There are nine penalty points on our scoresheet for faults which never were," he said yesterday.

Team manager Jo Maso said the French had lunch yesterday with Australian referee Peter Marshall, who will be in charge of their next Six Nations game against Scotland in Paris on Monday.

"We don't want to criticise the referees. We respect them and they are part the game but we want to talk to them," he said. "We want to understand their decisions."
