Cambridge University's eight proved too good for Waikato University in the ninth running of the Great Race on the Waikato River.
Cambridge won the race over a course of nearly 4km by about four lengths.
Waikato held the early lead but after a crash and clash of oars, which put a small hole in Cambridge's bow, the visitors took charge.
It was their third win in five visits for the annual race. Waikato beat the University of Sydney in the women's race.
