SYDNEY - Former New Zealand jockey Shane Dye has moved out of his Hong Kong apartment as the split with his estranged wife Emma-Kate Sullivan escalates.
Dye, who was arrested by Hong Kong police last Saturday on suspicion of assaulting his wife just eight days after the couple's wedding, has booked
into a hotel, The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported yesterday.
The 38-year-old confirmed he had moved out of their flat in the jockeys' quarters at Sha Tin racecourse but was unaware of reports suggesting his wife was seeking to have a restraining order issued against him.
Dye has not been charged but must report to police on June 23.
The 1989 Melbourne Cup-winning jockey was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after police were called to his home by a female friend of Sullivan after an argument.
Dye, the second most successful jockey in Australian racing history with 94 group one winners, has been released on bail of HK$500 ($NZ100).
