Olympics: High-tech accreditation for Athens

Athens Olympic Games organisers have devised secure accreditation cards for more than 80,000 athletes, officials and media teams that will also serve as visas recognised by the enlarged European Union.

Four years of technology went into the cards. Organisers had consulted Greece's forensic laboratories, usually responsible for analysing evidence after guerrilla attacks, and foreign secret services to come up with safe and efficient accreditation cards.
