RIO DE JANEIRO - A Senate commission will investigate the finances of players, coaches, agents and clubs as a first step to root out corruption in Brazilian soccer.
Senator Alvaro Dias said the investigations would also involve the powerful Brazilian Soccer Confederation, which would have its $US160 million ($403.63 million) sponsorship contract with Nike checked for irregularities.
Recently fired national team coach Wanderley Luxemburgo will be the first witness called when the hearings begin next week.
