KEY POINTS:
Silver Ferns midcourter Laura Langman may take part in the Netball World Championships, even if she is not 100 per cent fit.
Langman has a fracture in her left foot and is still in doubt for the tournament, which gets underway in Auckland next weekend.
Aitken said it is not unprecedented to head into a major tournament with key players carrying injuries, as former captain Anna Stanley (nee Rowberry) struggled with a calf injury throughout the successful 2003 World Championships campaign.
She said it comes down weighing to the risk of re-injury against whether it is just a matter of the player getting through a wee bit of pain.
A final call on Langman's availability will be made at the end of next week.
