Motorsport: Munro to be inducted

Forty years after he sped across the Bonneville salt flats on his Indian motorcycle, Southlander Burt Munro will this week be inducted into the American Motorcyclist Association Hall of Fame.

Munro, the subject of the movie The World's Fastest Indian, set a world land speed record of 165.517mp/h (266.373km/h) on his modified 1920s vintage Indian in 1966.

He returned to Utah in '67 and set a new record of 190.7mp/h (305.87km/h). The record still stands as the fastest by an Indian motorcycle.
