New Zealand's Possum Bourne has been elevated from fifth to fourth in the world production rally championship a fortnight after the first round, the Rally of Sweden, finished.
The provisional class winner, Polish driver Janusz Kulig, has been excluded from the event for having an illegal flywheel fitted to his MitsubishiLancer Evo6.
"It gives us another point in the championship," Bourne said. "I'm glad to see the FIA (International Automobile Federation) are taking a hard line on modifications in our series."
The new class winner is Stig Blomqvist, who like Bourne, drives a Subaru Impreza WRX STI, while second place is now held by defending champion Karamjit Singh.
Immediately after the Swedish Rally Kulig's car was stripped and the event scrutineers found the flywheel "had been machined contrary to the regulations."
The event stewards sent the part to the technical department of the FIA for confirmation and Kulig's exclusion was announced at the weekend.
It is believed the offending part weighed the same as a standard flywheel, but had been re-manufactured.
The next round of the world production rally championship is the Rally of New Zealand from April 10 to 13. Last year Bourne won the class and he has his sights set on a repeat performance in six weeks time.
"The pressure will certainly be on," Bourne said.
"A number of guys who have registered for the championship did not go to Sweden but are coming here and will make the competition a lot tougher."
Revised positions in the World Production Rally Championship:
1. S Blomqvist (Subaru Impreza WRX STI) Sweden 10 points
2. K Singh (Proton Pert) Malaysia 8 pts
3. M Rowe (Subaru Impreza WRX STI) Great Britain 6 pts
4. P Bourne (Subaru Impreza WRX STI) New Zealand 5 pts
5. K Holowczyc (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo7) Poland 4 pts
