The Aussies don’t want to miss out on all the fun.

The growing popularity in Chasing the Fox has led to an Australian broadcaster picking up the rights for next month’s event, which has already broken ticket numbers just two weeks after going on sale.

In a fitting partnership, Fox Sports Australia will air Chasing the Fox on December 12.

Kiwis will be able to watch the event live and free across TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+, including commentary from the Alternative Commentary Collective.

“I’m stoked that Chasing the Fox will be available for fans across the Tasman through Fox Sports,” Fox said.

“I’ve been lucky to spend a lot of time playing in Australia, and the support I get there means a lot. This event is all about showing golf in a new light – fun, fast and competitive – and having Fox Sports come on board helps us share that energy with even more fans,” he added.

Fox has had his greatest year in professional golf, winning twice on the PGA Tour with his Canadian Open victory securing his PGA Tour card until the end of 2028 and spots in three of the four majors next year.

His rise up the world rankings, the growth of popularity in golf and the huge success of last year’s event has seen Chasing the Fox already surpass ticket sales from last year’s event, just two weeks after going on sale.

Tickets went on sale at the end of last month, with the first release of GA tickets and corporate boxes selling out. Capacity has been extended for this year’s event and the second release of GA tickets are available as well as tickets to the Amex VIP lounge and the Fox Club.

Fox is expected to name his teammate in the coming weeks for the new format. For the past three years, the PGA Tour winner has played the six-hole tournament on his own. While he played well in the first edition, it became clear that winning was a huge task for an individual playing in such a format.

Now, when the Mānuka Phuel Chasing The Fox event returns to Royal Auckland and Grange Golf Club next month, Fox won’t be the only one the field are chasing.

Fox will be joined by another international golfer for the tournament, while spots in the field previously reserved for other individual golfers will also become teams of two.

Fox will also be putting up $20k to the charity of choice to the winning team, if they can upstage the World No 38 and his pro partner.

The full field will be revealed in the coming weeks with the latest names including social media golfers Mac Boucher and Luke Kwon, who last week was the most searched golfer. Canadian Boucher will team up with Ben Campbell, who plays on the LIV Golf Tour while Kwon is paired with Kiwi DP World Tour star Kazuma Kobori.
