Strasbourg have sued their former goalkeeper Jose-Luis Chilavert for producing a false document to back up his demand for a further €2.4 million ($5 million), the club said.
The Paraguayan keeper accused the club of not paying an extra €2.4 million of a €4.4 million fee he said he had been promised on top of his monthly salary.
The club versus Chilavert match has become a virtual soap opera. The Alsatian club eventually resorted to sacking the flamboyant but overweight keeper when he refused to play after the team's No. 1 was injured.
Chilavert's lawyer said he would be taking legal action against club president Patrick Proisy for alleged racism, a day after the player had been officially sacked from the club. Strasbourg and Chilavert were fined by the French league over the way both parties proceeded during their acrimonious divorce last month.
